Why School Librarian have School Library Blog : A through by Suresh Limbachiya, Librarian Adani Public School, Mundra- Kutch

Posted by Suresh Limbachiya on 21/01/2017

In today’s word social media has become an significant part of our lives. Many school libraries use traditional media-newspapers, newsletters, brochures and year book, to platform what they have and what they do. But how about using blog as our promotional tool? In act all school librarians in the order of the world should steps into the world of ‘Blogging’ to tell their library’s stories. I felt the need of having a school library blog t o promote our library services, resources and events. So I considered my dream, school library blog. The biggest problem was how to start with the process of making a blog. But thanks to the hi-tech improvement, so many user welcoming web tools are available today. One learns by doing things and that is exactly how I learnt about developing the library log, which was an out of the ordinary method. It keeps the reading group of people well up to date about all the events in the school library.

Children’s Day Celebrated at Adani DAV Public School : 14-11-2014

Posted by Suresh Limbachiya on 21/11/2014

Children’s Day was celebrated in Adani DAV Public School on 14th Nov 2014 with fun and frolic in the Multi-purpose Hall. To celebrate this day the whole programme was arranged by the teachers of the school for their beloved children. Each and every teacher and student was very much excited on this day and wanted to make it very special for all the children and the thrust was to make the children feel wanted, loved and secure.

In the beginning of the programme there was a video presentation in which various photographs of the activities done by the children in the school. Everybody was happy to see the children doing various things in the presentation. The presentation made all the teachers nostalgic for a moment. He remembered Chacha Nehru on this day on his 125th birth anniversary. With his speech he inspired children to do something unique and take their school and country to newer heights. He made them realise that they have the potential to do whatever they want to do.

On this day some of the teachers could not stop themselves expressing their feelings. Mr.Hardik Nayak  presented their emotions in the form of self-written poems.. After the skit was over, a group of teachers sang medley of three songs – Bacche Mann KeAchchhe, Ichak Dana Bichak Dana andChakkePeChakka. The audience, especially the children, enjoyed the songs very much. They also joined the teachers by clapping with beats.

At the end of the programme students sang the School Anthem and National Anthem. The sweets were distributed among the students in their classes. The day was celebrated with enthusiasm in the pre-primary section where a group of pre-primary teachers presented a wonderful dance, especially prepared for their kids.

The students and teachers of the Samudra Branch celebrated the day by playing various games. Kids enjoyed the games very much. Apart from this, the children were informed about the importance of the day and about the life of our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. On the whole with the great efforts of the principal, teachers and children the day became really special and a memorable one. We look forward to make it even better next year.

Women’s Equality Day Celebration @ Adani DAV Public School,Mundra – Kutch

Posted by Suresh Limbachiya on 27/08/2014

Women’s Equality Day

Being born in the girl power generation, it’s hard to believe that women didn’t have the right to vote when your great-grandma was your age. August 26th marks Women’s Equality Day, which celebrates the huge achievements women have made.

Women’s Equality Day celebrates the 19th Amendment to the American Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. This amendment was passed on August 26, 1920 after a group of women who called themselves the Suffragettes, led by Lucretia Mott, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, spent 72 years petitioning the government to recognize women’s rights. Now that’s dedication!

Women’s Equality Day isn’t really a balloons and cake kind of holiday. It’s a day to reflect on how far women have come in the last century and how far they still have to go.

Adani DAV Public School celebtrated women’s equality day on 27-8-2014 in MPH.

Lord Krishna : Best TEACHER of the World

Posted by Suresh Limbachiya on 21/08/2014

Dear Reader,

As we know, we celebrate centenary of Lord Krishna every year as Janmasthmi. On this day we are paying attention on the one side of Krishna’s life. But do not accept him as a Teacher who created a noble book or study on the Title ”Karma”‘. This book is known as Shrimad bhagwadgeeta which has many thoughts for the holistic growth of individual.

He educated Arjun about Karma. In present situation his views have fundamental irrelevance same as that time. He was a good Leader, Administrator, TEACHER, Ruler and Investigator. His learning visualization was clear and easy to be aware of in dialog form

The Importance of Book Reading

Posted by Suresh Limbachiya on 10/01/2014

In this fast and techno-savvy world, the time for personal recreation has almost come to a standstill. Though at the end of a working day, some people manage to steal a few moments for some sort of relaxation, majority are making their schedules for the next day. The world has made tremendous developments in all the fields and India is not lagging far behind. For the progress of our country, we need to prepare our younger generation to the fullest. The first and foremost is to read. The joy of reading books can’t be described in words. It is something that one can understand only by actual experience.        There is much more to life than our work and spending time aimlessly with latest technology products.

Reading books gives us that much needed break from the chaos in our life. It instills peace inside us, makes us relaxed and also exercises our brain in the process. A man is happy when he acquires the art of reading at an early age. With books a person is never lonely or bored. He is the possessor of wealth more precious than gold. Ruskin Bond, the famous writer calls books ‘’Kings’ Treasures”- treasuries filled, not with gold and silver and precious stones, but with riches much more valuable than these- knowledge, noble thoughts and high ideals.

But the future generation appears to be going from the oral to the digital culture skipping all the process of reading and writing. Reading does not just happen. It needs to be inculcated from a very young age and as the child grows this habit will increase and bring out the potential reader in him.

For this matter the libraries play an important role in the society. Besides providing study materials the library contains many other sources of information which are invaluable to the young students based on the individual’s tastes. Teachers must encourage the students to read many books in their free time and the class time table should include a reading class where the students go to the library and read the books of their choice. Reading fires the imagination of the child. It encourages quick learning, widening imagination, curiosity and knowing new people and places. But care must be taken to ensure that whatever the child is reading is relevant or not. Reading the wrong kind of book meant for the adults can have an adverse effect in the mind of the child.

In the school, the librarian plays an important role. The librarian is a resource person and forms a communicating link between the teachers and the students. Teachers can give the list of suggestions to the librarian and the librarian can distribute questionnaires to the students to know of their requirements.

Likewise parents should encourage their children to develop the reading of story books and other informative books so as to broaden their knowledge. Instead of allowing their children be a couch potato with eyes glued to the television set watching unnecessary programs, they can be given books of their liking which will not only help in enhancing their knowledge but also help in learning new words and vocabulary. During birthdays and other parties of children, gifting them story books, coloring books, reference books, etc. can be helpful to the child and broaden his knowledge. Inculcating the importance of visiting a library and showing the habit of reading books in a very early age of a child can be very beneficial to the intellectual growth of a child.

Reading broadens the mind, helps us know about the beautiful world that we all are living in, and helps us to know and imagine the living habits, food habits, and culture and customs of people living in the different parts of the world. It not only enables the mind to think over objects of interests, which enable a person in making decisions, its food for the soul, but also nourishes the human intellect in probing things deeper, analyzing things, and provides guidance to people, to instances they have not been exposed in life. Reading is really like taking a flight to high altitudes in search of information and knowledge. Children who start reading at an early age are observed to have a good command over the language. The habit of reading also helps the reader to decipher new works and phrases that they come to in everyday conversation. Reading also helps in stimulating the mind by erasing the stress and strain of everyday life as well as stimulating the muscles of the eyes. Books are the mirror of the society because it tells us about our graceful past and conditions of the society. Reading not only has tremendous power when it comes to fueling the development of all aspects of language ability, its importance to the entirety of a human life in this day and age really can’t be overstated.

But to read nothing but fiction is like eating nothing but sweets and cakes. As we need plain wholesome food for the body, so we must have serious reading for the mind. And for this we can choose according to our taste. Some books can be read simply for pleasure and amusements- for example good novels. But there are many noble books on history, biography, religion, travel and science which will not only gives us pleasure but also an education. People should read good poetry also as it give as noble thoughts and beautiful imaginations.

A quote rightfully said, “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, says Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.

Jodha Akbar TV Serial :: Real Story of Jodha Akbar

Posted by Suresh Limbachiya on 19/06/2013

jodha%20akbar%20serial%20launch%20(32)

Real Story of Jodha Akbar

Jodhaa Akbar is a sixteenth century love story about a political marriage of convenience between a Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput princess, Jodhaa.

Political success knew no bounds for Emperor Akbar. After having secured the Hindu Kush, his empire extends from Afghanistan to the Bay of Bengal, and from the Himalayas to the Narmada River. Through a shrewd blend of diplomacy, intimidation and brute force, Akbar won the allegiance of the Rajputs. This allegiance was not universal. But little did Akbar know that when he married Jodhaa, a fiery Rajput princess, in order to further strengthen his relations with the Rajputs, he would in turn be embarking upon a new journey – the journey of true love.

The daughter of King Bharmal of Amer, Jodhaa resented being reduced to a mere political pawn in this marriage of alliance, and Akbar’s biggest challenge now lies in winning the love of Jodhaa – a love hidden deep below resentment and extreme prejudice.

Many of the events portrayed in the series are based on real events. Certain Rajput groups claimed Jodhaa was married to Akbar’s son, Jahangir, not Akbar where as certain reports stated that Jodha & Akbar were not married.

The title of the series was criticized by members of the Rajput community as misleading, politically motivated historical revisionism that minimized Rajput history. The community’s protests against the series in Rajasthan, and alleged that if they do not do so they will not let any Balaji Telefilms films to be released in the state.

The story of Jodha and Akbar is an intriguing chapter from India’s history. It speaks of love in the time of hate. It is relevant and relatable to present times as well. In India, historicals are more incident-based. But we are looking at the human stories, characterizations that focus on inter-personal relationships, the politics, how they think and communicate, The show will highlight how it was Jodha’s love that had a calming influence on him, transforming him from a brave warrior to a benevolent king and a better ruler with great appreciation for art, culture and love for his people. The key objective is to highlight to our audiences the power of love and its significant role in making someone a better human being.

eBook : Jain Temple at Bhadreshwar – Kutch ::: ભદ્રેશ્વર મહાતીર્થ – ભદ્રેશ્વર- કચ્છ

Bhadreshwar

Jain Temple at Bhadreshwar

ભદ્રેશ્વર મહાતીર્થ – ભદ્રેશ્વર- કચ્છ

(Dear Reader……Click on ABOVE link  read ebook)

The ancient temple site is located west of the village of Bhadreshwar (or Bhadreshvar), just a few miles far from the seashore. The ancient name of the place was Bhadravati, which was a flourishing city and one of the most important places of Jain pilgrimage of ancient Kutch.

According to some local legends the temple and the village nearby were built during the period of Mahabharata while historical sources mention one Shravak Devchandra as the founder of the temple. The temple was renovated in V.S. 1134 (1077 CE) by the Shrimalis and in V.S. 1314 (1257 CE) by  Sheth Shri Jagdu Shah after a famine.

In the 14th century the city descended but the temple were resurrected in 1631 CE by Sheth Vardhaman Shah, who reinstalled the ancient image of Bhagawan Parshvanath.

The temple was extensive described by Harihar Singh in his book “Jaina Temples of Western India” (Varanasi: Parshvanath Vidhyashram Research Institute, 1982):

[The temple] “stands in an oblong courtyard about 48 ft. by 85 ft. inside, around which runs a row of about 44 (originally 48) devakulikāswith a colonnaded corridor in front. It consists of a mūlaprāsāda, a gūḍhamaṇḍapa, a mukhamaṇḍapa, a raṅgamaṇḍapaand a nālamaṇḍapa, the last compartment partly projecting out and built over a stairway which is landed up from the ground through a porch and opens in the raṅgamaṇḍapa. The temple-complex is reared upon a jagatīwhich is reached only from the north to which direction the temple also faces.

The temple has been restored and altered so often that all its original character has vanished. During recent years the entire temple has been coated with white pigment, so that it is very hard to decide which part of the temple is old and which one is new. The pillars, architraves and ceilings having been coated with white lime and painted with variegated colours, the interior looks very odd. Besides, the rear half of the court is covered with iron grilles. Four of the devakulikāsin the front row are quite recent” (p. 168).

In January 2001 the temple was destructed by an earthquake. Jaina Voice announced at July 29th, 2002 :

“The world-famous Jain Temple of Bhadreshwar has been completely demolished because the structure was considered unsafe due to the extensive damage from last January’s earthquake. The main temple, which was nearly 2,500 years old, used to attract people from all over the country. “It is shocking not only for Jains but everybody in Kutch,” says Vanechand Mulchand Doshi, the manager of the Seth Vardhman Kalyanji Trust, which manages the Bhadreshwar Temple. The demolition work has been completed and temporary arrangement has been made from where pilgrims can take darshan of Mul Nayak Mahaveer Bhagwan and Parasnath.Fortunately, over 146 icons, most of them between 500 years and 2500 years old could be saved and all have been temporarily housed. Despite the fact that the temple does not exist, pilgrims have been pouring in from across the country. The Bhadreshwar Temple Managing Committee has been working on a project to reconstruct the Temple.”

After archaeological researches at the site the reconstruction of the temple had been initiated.

Saraswatichandra Serial on Star Plus : Saraswatichandra book by Govardhanram Tripathi

Posted by Suresh Limbachiya on 11/02/2013

saraswatichandea

Saraswatichandra is an upcoming on Star Plus channel from February 25, 2013. The story will be based on the famous Gujarati novel Saraswatichandra written by Govardhanram Tripathi.

The focus of the novel is on two Gujarati Brahmin families. The family of Lakshminandan is settled in Bombay, has a roaring business, and is very wealthy. Saraswatichandra, the brilliant scholar-to-be, is born to Lakshminandan and Chandralakshmi. He has a dazzling career to look forward to as he is steeped in Sanskrit and English classics, is a barrister by qualification and has tried his hand successfully at his father’s business. The other family is that of Vidyachatur, the highly knowledgeable prime minister of the court of King Maniraj of (the fictional) kingdom of Ratnanagari. To him and his wife, Gunasundari, the lady of tremendous qualities, are born two daughters, Kumudsundari (the elder) and Kusumsundari. Saraswatichandra’s mother dies, and Lakshminandan remarries. The step-mother, Guman, is a typical specimen, and treats her step-son with suspicion and dislike. Meanwhile, Saraswatichandra and Kumudsundari are engaged to be married, subsequent to which they exchange letters and fall in love without having seen each other; he, charmed with Kumud’s tenderness and similar likes and she, taken in by his vast knowledge and excellent qualities.

Things reach a head in Saraswatichandra’s home when he realizes that even his father suspects him of having an interest only in the family wealth and he decides to renounce his home. His best friend, Chandrakant, tries his best to use every argument he can think of to prevent his friend from carrying out this terrible vow. But Saraswatichandra is not amenable to argument, and he leaves, thus not only renouncing home and wealth, but also leaving young Kumud in the lurch. He proceeds by sea to (the fictional) Suvarnapur. By the time he reaches there, Kumud has already been married off to Pramad-dhan, the wayward son of Buddhidhan, the man who is slated to become prime minister of Suvarnapur.

And thus, we come to the third family. Buddhidhan is a Bania (vaaNiyaa) and has a sharp intelligence and political sense, by which he manages to overturn the reign of Suvarnapur’s ruler, Jadsinh, and his administrators, Dushtrai and Shathrai. His own Rajput friend, Bhoopsinh, becomes king and Buddhidhan, his prime minister. Saraswatichandra stays at Buddhidhan’s place calling himself Navinchandra, and watches all this political activity with interest. Inevitably, he comes into contact a few times with Kumud, the daughter-in-law of the house. Love for each other ignites again, and a lowly companion of the daughter of the house takes advantage of this and incites Pramad-dhan against his wife.

On the day Buddhidhan gets the prime minister’s post, Saraswatichandra leaves his house due to the tensions that contact with Kumud is causing them both and leaves without a destination in mind. He steps into a cart going towards Manoharpuri in Ratnanagari. Meanwhile, Kumud is also on her way in a palanquin and accompanied by guards, to see her mother in Manoharpuri. Saraswatichandra’s is attacked by bandits and they leave him injured in a forest. An attack on Kumud is also planned by the bandits, and knowing this, Kumud’s grandfather, Maanchatur, leads a team to counter the bandits. They manage to foil the bandits’ plans, capture their leader, but then, Kumud, fearing shame and infamy, tries to commit suicide by jumping into the Subhadra river. Despairing for her life, Maanchatur returns and everybody assumes her dead.

Saraswatichandra, meanwhile, is rescued by a group of ascetics and taken to their ashram on the nearby mountains of Sundargiri. Here, Saraswatichandra impresses the head monk, Vishnudas, by his breadth of knowledge and eventually makes him name him as his successor to the post of head monk. Kumud also survives and her unconscious body is caught by a lady ascetic, Chandraavali, and her companions. This group takes Kumud to Vishnudas’ ashram and both she and Saraswatichandra come to know of each other’s presence there.

The ashram ascetics realize the facts of the past life of these two, and try their best to reunite them. In this attempt, they take them both to an isolated cave on the peak of Chiranjeevshrung. Here, spending four days and nights together, they undergo a mystical experience which convinces them to reunite. The major impediment is how the society will view this reunion. This is a complex problem, and they think of three different alternatives.

All this time, Lakshminandan has almost lost his mind in his son’s absence, and Chandrakant vows to find his friend and is lodged at Vidyachatur’s place for a long time. Ratnanagari’s police and detectives find out where Saraswatichandra and Kumud are, and eventually, his entire family, as well as Lakshminandan and Guman, decide to visit Sundargiri, talk to Vishnudas about getting the two ‘back into the world’, and convince the two about the same. However, there is no consensus on the marriage of Kumud to Saraswatichandra. Ultimately, the only alternative possible without anyone getting outcast by society is this: Saraswatichandra must marry Kusum, Kumud’s younger sister, Kumud must live an ascetic life with Chandraavali, although while visiting her relatives often, and Saraswatichandra must return to Bombay and manage his family business again.

This is the plot of the novel described in the briefest possible manner, without conveying even an iota of the emotions, the tension, the idealism of some characters and the pragmatism of others, the sheer vicissitudes of life in these three families after Saraswatichandra renounced home

Govardhanram Tripathi

Govardhanram Tripathi was born in Nadiad, India on 20 October 1855 on the day of the Dasara festival.

In 1875, he completed his BA degree and decided to pursue an LLB as well, however, he vowed never to work under anyone else and started his own practice in Mumbai. In 1883, he completed his LLB and began working at his practice in 1884. At the age of 43, he retired early and settled in his hometown to contribute to the world of Gujarati literature and also to take part in selfless service, working and offering this work to God, in keeping with the traditions of many Indian religions.

Shri. Govardhanram Tripathi died in Mumbai on the evening of 4 January 1907.
